A small review of Craeftgemot Witancoveyne's Founding

The 1960s and 1970s saw a great change in Public awareness of Pagus or Pagan faiths. I can only speak first hand about CW “Craeftgemot Witancoveyne (A Druid Church and School in America) “ The founders were friends with Isaac Bonewits (ADF founder) and many others in the active Pagan / Psychic world of writers, teachers groups and schools of the 60s-70s. CW was running the “Science of Self” © Teaching center in Dearfield Beach, Florida and Publishing WW-WW “Which Way–Witch Way” small monthly news letter for all matters of interest to those in the Psychic and Crafts of Old. WW-WW merged information from many Pagus roots together into a new emerging tree.

CW while pursing USA-IRS acceptance of CW as a USA government accepted Druid Religion. At the time the IRS understood the concept of a Church better than a grove etc, and Freedom of non Abramic religions was shall we say less accepted. I must add that as not every being a member of RDNA, OBOD, ADF, OMS, RDG, MOSS. OWD etc I may be wrong on this, but I believe CW was the first to tackle the USA-IRS and convince them that Druidry was real religion in America and receive IRS 501c3 Tax status.

We saw CW's role in a different light then perhaps what others saw their Druidry at the time, not an escape from a college mandatory religious service or role playing but one of a teaching and community service organization that embraced the Pagus World, Psychic Ability and Magick into everyday life.

We saw a need for a more Celtic (general community population), service centric societal / tribal structure. Where both new Druids and Celts were were trained to server both them self's, society and nature as its central goal. Where the only true difference in being a CW Druid in stead of a CW Celt was that the Druid Faith was your main vocation in life and you Publicly represented that Druid faith. Times were much worst for acceptance of Pagus religious paths so we set it up that Celts could maintain their faith in secrecy if need be. Druids could not. So here we still are are Non-Re-Formed Druid Church as we see it.
